The commonwealth of Virginia has a REVIVE! Opioid Overdose and Naloxone Education program that provides training on how to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose emergency using naloxone. (REVIVE! - Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS))
Northwestern CSB partners with DBHDS to provide local REVIVE trainings. All participants who complete the training also receive 2 free doses of naloxone. Request a training.
Free 10-15 minute Rapid REVIVE trainings are regularly provided to the community at Northwestern CSB clinic sites. Everyone who completes the training will receive a free kit and naloxone.
One effective way to reduce substance misuse and overdose is to follow safe medication practices. Northwestern CSB provides a variety of information and practical materials to help with safe storage and disposal.

Need to get rid of your unused and/or expired medications?
There are a number of locations where medications can be accepted with no questions asked.
Additionally, the Drug Enforcement Agency works with local law enforcement to offer 2 dates a year at various locations where unused or expired medication can be dropped off. Take Back Day

Curb The Crisis – Curb the Crisis is intended as a comprehensive resource for all Virginians in the fight against opioid misuse and overdose throughout the commonwealth.
Song for Charlie – This organization is a “national family-led nonprofit charity that encourages young people to choose healthy coping strategies over self-medication.”
Halpern-Felsher REACH Lab – The goal of the REACH lab is “to empower and promote adolescent and young adult health through collaborative research, education, and advocacy.
